SCCA Information

SCCA Organization

Sun City was developed beginning in 1964, breaking new ground by providing a community reserved for senior residents, with central meeting and recreational facilities designed for their exclusive use. Sun City became, and remains today, a bright haven for people 55 years and older who have worked long and hard for casual retirement among others with similar interests and goals.

The Sun City Civic Association is a 501 (c )(4 ) Business corporation chartered by the State of California. The business of the corporation is protection and maintenance of the 55+ community status and the recreational interests of homeowners in the Core Area's 4762 homes. All homeowners in the Core Area must be Members of the Association, with a stake in sound operation of Association business.

The business of the corporation is managed by a seven-member, volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the Membership for two-year terms. The Board's responsibilities are mandated by the Consolidated Declaration of Restrictions, the By-laws, and State statutes, principally the  CALIFORNIA CORPORATIONS CODE.  Board Members serve without remuneration.

The Board meets the 1st  Wednesday at 7:00pm and the 3rd Saturday at 1:00 pm of each month in Webb Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend Board meetings in order to stay current concerning Association business.

The Board is assisted in Association management by a professional staff, expert in common interest law, and intimately familiar with the Association's day-to-day operational requirements.

All Association Members pay annual assessments, supportive of professional staff required to develop and maintain records prescribed by law, and particularly to maintain and operate Sun City's community meeting and recreation facilities. The facilities consist of two swimming pools, a spa, exercise room, lapidary shop, woodworking shop, and indoor shuffleboard courts. There are many arts and crafts rooms. Two town halls and a smaller community room provide meeting rooms for the corporation and more than 60 resident clubs.

Two beautiful lawn bowling greens greet passersby, and there are horseshoe pits and a billiards club. The Galleria is a shop, open to the general public, where Members can sell the items they make in the various arts and crafts rooms. The Gathering Place, located in the Trophy Room, is open each Wednesday and Thursday for members to meet and enjoy coffee, cookies and fellowship.

Two facilities, the Agricultural Garden and Corbett RV Park, located outside the immediate Core Area, are available for gardeners or people with recreational vehicles, for a small special fee.

Contact information for all organizations can be found on this web site.

A New Residents Committee holds a special quarterly meeting to greet newcomers to the community and provide them with information about the amenities available to them, as well as to explain the SCCA's governing documents.

A quarterly newsletter provides information on current issues as well as various reports to the Membership as is required by Corporate and Civil Codes.

The Core Courier, published Bi- MONTHLY, provides current SCCA information and provides answers to questions residents have asked. The Core Courier is mailed to each residence, and is  available on this website.  It is also available at boxes located throughout Core facilities, at some local restaurants, and at the Public Library.

Welcome to Sun City. We think its a fine place to live. We know you will think so too.
